Every year we anxiously anticipate the lineup reveals for the festivals we attend. We cross our fingers and hope that our favorite new artists make the cut. As seasoned festival-goers, we know that it’s impossible to be everywhere and to see everyone. So we scour the lineup lists, picking and choosing, to create our own personalized festival schedules. Everyone knows who the headliners are but here are the small type bands we’re looking forward to checking out as we hit the road again this year. First up, SXSW!

In between packing their bags and getting ready to hit the road, Art Director Aaron May and Music Business Strategist Sebastien Schultz share their picks.

PUPRoyal Mountain Records
This punk band from Toronto plays a riff-heavy, angsty style of rock. According to the band they, “Drink, sleep on a lot of floors and get shitty.”  They’re a must see for my trip to SXSW. They’ll be tearing it up March 13th at Headhunters Patio at 720 Red River Street.

DONOVAN WOLFINGTON
Topshelf Records
Noisy. Catchy. Heartfelt. From my favorite label Topshelf Records, this band’s style of music is my heart song. They’re playing March 12th and 13th at SOHO Lounge at 217 E. 6th Street.

Withered Hand
Slumberland Records
How could I make a SXSW list without including a Scottish band?  Indie. Folk. Pop. The really, really good kind…trust me. They’ll be playing March 12th at Maggie Mae’s at 323 E. 6th Street and March 14th at Latitude 30 at 512 San Jacinto Street.

Flashlights
Hard Rock Records
Catchy. Punk. Pop. Garage. Anthemic.  ALL THESE AWESOME THINGS. You can catch them March 13th at Holy Mountain Backyard at 617 E. 7th Street.

Aaron and Seb will be tweeting and instagramming from SXSW all week. Stay tuned to our Twitter @PHFDesign and to our Instagram @powerhousefactories throughout the festival.
